"I'm really enjoying my football this season"

Saturday's 6-1 demolition of Cove at Chalky Lane saw Flacky get on the scoresheet twice, the first time this has happened for him in a Chessy shirt! J has been with us a number of years now and is without doubt our most consistent performer season after season, the attacking full back took time after training to sit down and have a chat.....

When asked about the current season.....

"I'm really enjoying my football this season, I've managed to stay injury free so far which is always nice"

"We've got a good bunch of lads in the squad which has lots of depth, every game there has been a change or two to the line up but the lads coming in are as good as the ones not available which is a breathe of fresh air"

Following last years relegation from the CCL Prem the club had to rebuild, a large number of the first team & reserve team senior players moved on to other clubs.

The new lads this year have impressed with their attitude, hunger and commitment so far, Flacky went on the say.....

"All the new lads are decent, the commitment on and off the pitch is a massive improvement on last year with every player giving 100%"

"I have to give credit to the U18s, there are lots of them pushing their way into the first team which keeps everyone on their toes"

Andy Ellis decided this summer to step back from the first team to take control of the reserves aswell as continuing to develop his U18 side which he has managed since they were younger.

This move has already given first team manager Darren Woods extra depth in his squad.

The first team have started the season well and currently sit 4th in the table after winning 5 and drawing 3 of their first 10 games

When asked about our start Flacky said....

"To be honest we've been a bit hit and miss, we find ourselves dominating games but sometimes struggling to break teams down. We almost seem better when we're playing stronger opposition and we're up against it"

When asked about what the future holds Flacky was pretty optimistic....

"Promotion is the main objective for everyone at the club this year, I think we can get a cup run going aswell, we're still in a couple of cup competitions so let's see how we get on"

On Tuesday evening the first team cruised into the Premier Challenge Cup 3rd round after seeing off a well drilled Cobham side 3-1, goals from Kiemon Robinson returning from suspension and skipper Dan Green with 2 brilliant efforts.

Dan Green who signed from Corinthian Casuals in the summer has been made captain by Darren Woods after Matt Ellis suffered a broken ankle towards the end of last year.

"It's a big loss with Matty Ellis being injured, such a decent player but also a grafter. The new skipper is quality, can't take it away from him, even if he knows it! He's been there and done it and played a good level his whole career. You can see it when he is playing, he leads by example every game and he works hard too"

The first team travel to Redhill on Saturday looking to make it 3 wins on the spin, Redhill will be looking to kick start their season with a win after a few inconsistent results.
