WE ARE GOING UP!!
On Saturday the 1st team managed to clinch promotion with an entertaining 5-3 victory against Alton Town at Chalky Lane!
Knowing before the game that only 3 points would be enough to achieve what we had set out to do at the start of the year.....Promotion!!
We started the game brightly and opened the scoring after only 2 minutes when KYLE GREEN fired into an unguarded goal!!
But from then on it was the visitors that looked more settled and 2 quick fire goals (14th & 16th minute) was not in the script at all.
SCOTT HARRISON headed home from 3 yards from a corner to level it at 2-2 with 10 minutes to go in the 1st half!
In the 2nd minute of added time in the 1st half a JIMMY HEARNE corner was missed by a defender and goalkeeper and the ball found its way into the far corner!
HALF TIME 3-2
We didn't find the net again until the 75th minute but when we did it was very fitting that club and League top goalscorer DAN McLAUGHLIN final got in on the action!
JIMMY HEARNE completely settled the tie from the penalty spot with 9 minutes remaining!
A late Alton goal in the 94th minute wasn't enough to ruin the atmosphere at Chalky Lane.
