We travelled to Godalming Town to play Badshot Lea in a game that meant little to either side, and in conditions better suited to a sun drenched beach holiday than competitive football.
With the condition of the pitch also very poor, any show of quality from either side was rare with our hosts reliant on their pacy front man every time, and ourselves whilst trying to play falling foul too often of a surface that stopped any passing moves in their tracks almost immediately.
As a result there were very few chances in the opening half, Mark Daniels competent as ever in dealing with what came his way, and the home keeper troubled rarely as we failed to get enough crosses into the box when well placed.
The second half saw the introduction of Zak Graham replacing the injured John Duggan and he made an immediate impact. A misplaced clearance from the home keeper fell to Graham some twenty five yards out, and his first time left foot strike flew into the unguarded goal as the keeper scrambled back to save.
Our perfect start to the half gave us the lead for no more than two minutes, as with virtually the next attack Badshot were level. Two missed tackles and a slight deflection on the cross-presented the striker with an easy header from within the six-yard box.
The blistering start to the half proved to be the only phase of the game that had anything about it as the tempo and quality dropped dramatically.
Towards the end of the game our point was nearly lost but for a fantastic double save by Daniels.
Overall and with all things considered we deserved our point and a second game unbeaten restored some pride.
