Saturday saw us turn our recent form upside down as we defeated highflying Horley in some style.

In fact a one nil victory didn’t do us justice, and our lack of goals made for a nervy afternoon rather than one we all could enjoy.

Our attacking threat was evident from the off, and our goal scoring chances came as early as the fifth minute when Jordan Oldershawe drove wide following the first of many corners we had during the ninety minutes.

Next to threaten was Dan Coombes, who’s enterprising run from midfield saw his low shot rebound off the base of the post and with Buari almost certain to score from the rebound his strike was somehow hooked away to safety from right on the goal line.

The chances continued to come, and Coombes again and Goff had long-range shots charged down as our visitors clung to the even score line.
At the other end it was about concentration and having to deal with the aerial threat that Horley`s set plays put us under. Thankfully this was a good day at the office and the back four and Sharpe in goal were in control.

The break came when least wanted as it was a break in play that might of affected our momentum, but to be fair our second half was equally as good and started with the same tempo as before.

The visiting keeper in fine form making several great stops most notably from Buari who he denied on three occasions and claiming with some confidence each set play that was loaded into his penalty box.

Even when we bypassed him luck was against us, particularly when fine approach play saw Matt Ellis released and his perfectly executed lob bounced just the wrong side of the post.

As we became a little anxious our nerves were settled and from an unlikely source. Andrew Heath in the holding role found more and more opportunities to join in in the top third as we produced wave after wave of attack, and he was rewarded when Goff’s pass to Buari fell kindly for him to run onto and calmly side foot home.

With just over twenty to go and clearly because of our poor points return we became a little disjointed, and were nearly punished for conceding too many fouls and dropping too deep when the ball ended in our net from another set play. But with protests aplenty the goal was ruled out for handball.

At the other end debutant Sean Bradley introduced in place of Goff with just over ten minutes remaining also had the ball in the net, but that to was ruled out this time for offside.

With the final whistle ever nearer we were more conservative in our approach and was happy to take time out of the game whenever we could.

Rightly or wrongly we saw the game out in this fashion and secured a fine three points.
