The Res lost to an unbeaten Walton Casuals side that are top of Premier B and still unbeaten in the league. On paper this was the strongest sides we have put out this season but the gap between the sides was there for all to see. From the kick off we were under pressure but dealt well with the home teams forwards and to be fare it was against the run of play Chessington took the lead when Aaron Leacock hit a free kick just under the bar and the home keeper played a one –two with the bar and the result was 0-1 to Chessington.
From the kick off The Walton Manger shouting at his players that they were losing to a pub team seemed to inspire the Chessington keeper Sean Fallon who seemed to be playing Walton on his own and kept the score to 0-1.with some great saves right up till half time.
Half – Time. Walton Casuals Res. 0-1 Chessington & Hook Utd Res.
The Walton Manager must have had some harsh words with his team because they came out for the second half a different team, their passing and movement was a lesson to our young side and as normal we gave them a helping hand when Adam Marie for some reason that he only knows took a throw in and tried to find our keeper with a Walton forward standing in front of him, who duly put the ball in the back of the net giving Walton fresh hope and in all honestly a deserved equalizer. Well now the Walton players were showing why they are unbeaten and they took the lead when the ref decided that a 50/50 clash in the box between the keeper and home team forward was worth a penalty , need to say a well taken kick found the back of the Chessington net 2-1 to Walton. The game was now over as a contest but we were now playing for our pride and were holding out well until the goal of the game made it 3-1 to Walton with the Walton forward hit a great shot from distance giving the Chessington keeper no chance. Instead of rolling over we now found a bit of pride and came close on a few occasions, with another Aaron Leacock freekick coming back off the post with the home keeper well beaten being the nearest.

As a Manager who speaks his mind and lets the players know when they have made a mistake or he thinks that they have stopped learning I have got to admit that the main reason we got beat tonight was down to me changing the formation and showing Walton to much respect. In hindsight I should of let the lads play their own game tonight as it has worked more times than it hasn’t this season. We got beat by the better team tonight and they should have scored more than they did, but as long as the players have learnt something tonight and have taken something from the game then as a Manger I am happy.
