Glynn Stephens shares his thoughts on the away game against Godalming Town on Saturday 9th March.

Godalming Town 0 - CHUFC 0

Better late than never... here's our Gaffer's thoughts on the Godalming match.

The game at Godalming was a one-off, or at least I hope it was, as in all honesty I'm not sure it would be right to consider my comments a reflection on a game of football. The surface was horrific, the pitch was uncut, certainly wasn’t flat, and had areas with stones where presumably repair work had been done, and looking at the makeup of their team it was clear that they knew what to expect.  There was no football of note and the pattern of the game for both sides was to get the ball forward and hope that something might happen. To the credit of the lads who played, they defended well and stood up to the physical test, the midfield did the ugly stuff well and the front boys kept going.  Both sides had an opportunity to win it late on but it wasn’t to be.  At the end on a day where it was all about hard work and rolling your sleeves up, we more than matched our hosts and I was pleased with another clean sheet and another point on the board.
