FIRST TEAM MANAGER ON THE GODALMING GAME

FIRST TEAM MANAGER ON THE GODALMING GAME

Tracy Dale29 Aug 2024 - 14:30

Away - Tuesday 27th August

GODALMING TOWN 2 - 2 CHUFC
Goals: Karim Mellar, Archie Morgan

Another really good performance away from home where I felt for the second game running we deserved more. I was really pleased with all aspects of our play as we were good with and without the ball and managed the game very well and can count ourselves unlucky that we only took a point from the game. We scored early with a tidy goal from Karim but were pegged back quickly when we afforded their wide player too much time to pick a decent cross which we didn’t deal with and were punished. Our reaction though was good and we set about the game exactly as we had detailed and if we continue to reach these levels we will win many games. We scored a good second 10 minutes before the break and needed to do very little at half-time to affect the way we were playing.

We spoke about managing the game in 15-minute spells and all around we were excellent and never looked like conceding and were still finding opportunities to increase our lead. I could sense that our hosts were becoming more desperate and the game had become very scrappy with a number of free kicks being awarded as the clock ticked down.

I thought we were there as we hit the 90-minute mark but an obvious foul on Ryan was missed which allowed the ball to be played into the box which we failed to deal with as well as we had all evening up to that point and Godalming had snatched an equaliser. GK Sang preserved a point for us with an unbelievable save before being sent off for his part in a melee that had started when Ryan was punched off the ball.

Again, a good team performance, and when the final few bits of our game are sorted I'm sure we will put ourselves right in the mix at the top end of the table.
