SCFL Division One game played on Saturday 12th October

CHUFC 0 - 3 REIGATE PRIORY

Another game, another defeat, more frustration, and time for me to try something different as these results are on me and if I keep doing the same thing then right now nothing will change.

I thought the lads huffed and puffed their way through the game but played without any real belief, and on reflection they accepted the loss far too easily. We were undone for the first goal with a tremendous pass and cool finish early on, having already seen Andrew make a fine penalty save, so our start was a slow one. We did get better and had our moments in the first half and could have been level following some good link-up play but for a fine save, and for 20 minutes before the half we were probably the better side but only just.

We had a go in the second half and again had a few moments where we looked like something might happen, but it wasn’t one-way traffic by any means, and it looked like we were hoping something would happen rather than making it happen. Although the concession of the second goal was in bizarre circumstances, it was a goal against nonetheless, and pretty much that was that. A late third probably flattered Reigate Priory but not the result on another disappointing afternoon.

The most worrying trend for me is that it's not a lack of technical ability or players with flair; it’s the fact that we get rolled over too easily, don't come together in the difficult moments, and get outworked way too often. That’s down to a lack of character and desire - something that can't be coached. I will change a couple of things to try to find a solution.
