Chessington & Hook vs Cove

Who like us still have a number of fixtures including a league cup final to fulfil between now and the end of the season.

In a scrappy game with little of note happening at all, we failed to create a single chance in the first half. Too often attempted clearances and forward passes were under hit and intercepted with ease, allowing Cove who played a direct brand of football to immediately return the ball behind our defence to provide their pacy forwards with potential openings at least .

When we did manage to pass into decent areas we failed to hold the ball up allowing Coves enthusiastic back line to dominate us far too easily. Oh and the fact that we were unable to string two passes together didn`t help either.

The one chance in the half fell to the visitors who after hitting the bar from a well delivered corner, somehow failed to convert the rebound following an old fashioned goalmouth scramble. That aside the half was best forgotten aside from the assured presence of Daniel Fisher in goal who is proving an able deputy to Mark Daniels.

The second half offered little more although the higher tempo of our play and increased ability to actually get the ball in behind the back line at last stretched their defence a little. From one such break our only chance of the game resulted. Unfortunately although Reece Jackson`s shot beat the goalkeeper it was cleared off the line by a Cove defender.

And that was that basically, a drab nil nil , a result that was rarely threatened although Daniel Fisher`s reflexes twice saved us late on in a game that is best forgotten.
