Our first away game in the league this season saw us travel to fancied Frimley Green.
IAN HEWITT stayed in between the sticks as MARK DANIELS was unavailable. CHRISTIAN MONEY, ADE PETERS & RUDOPLH TEWE were all working for this one. We were also missing AARON AGYEMAN (injury), JOE CHARLES (wedding), JOSH DOE (injury) & GEORGE ISSACS (injury).
As Well as some of the players missing there was no JAMES DEACONS who was also working, ANDY ELLIS had a reserve team fixture away at Crowborough.
TOM TYLER came in to replace MONEY, ADAM MARIE replaced ROSS TOMASSI who was on the bench. EDDIE DINES making his debut started in CM. MARTYN GANGE replaced the missing PETERS.
Another hot day and another dry pitch, the lads started very well. We took the game to Frimley but failed to create any real chances.
The home side struck first when they won a corner with their first attack of the game, the corner was drilled in by former Chessy player Darren Titre-Wilson, Ben Dearlove was first to the ball and he made no mistake from close range.
We were up against it now and knew we had to raise our game. Lucky for us Frimley gave the ball away in the middle of the park, DAN GREEN sliding a perfectly weighted pass in the long grass through to MARTYN GANGE who slotted the ball under the keeper for the equaliser.
The rest of the first half had the same pattern, Chessy having more ball but never testing the Frimley keeper, poor crossing and shots off target. Frimley with the few chances they did have at least worked HEWITT into making some saves.
AARON JOHNSON replaced the injured DAN GREEN at half time and J FLACK was given the armband.
The majority of the second half was the same, I have to admit that we were terrible in the final third with our end product.
ROSS TOMASSI replaced KYLE GREEN.
Frimley had a great chance with time running out but HEWITT again pulled off a fantastic save to deny the forward.
Into injury time KIEMON ROBINSON tricked his way inside the box and was brought down, even the Frimley bench said it was a "stonewall penalty" but nothing was given.
Definitely not at our best, but we didn't lose the game and come away knowing we still have at least 3 gears to go.
Credit to Frimley who contested well for 90 minutes and will cause teams trouble this year with their physicality in the middle of the park and up top.
