Another point on the board but it really should of been 3

The first time I've visited The Lucan Pavilion, I have to say that many teams won't like going there. On another windy Saturday the two teams battled against the conditions and each other in a game of two halves.

Staines Lammas claimed after the game to have 8 players missing for this one....well we can trump that statement, only the 9 not available for us - Daniels, Marie, Tyler, Money, D Green, K Green, Gange, Agyeman & Peters.

IAN HEWITT in the Chessy goal was always going to be up against it in the first as the home side decided to kick with the wind.

We struggled to get to grips for the first 30 minutes of the game, every time we cleared the ball from danger or attacked we found the ball coming straight back at us.

Staines are a physically large side and don't mind putting ball in box, reminded me of the Camberley sides I've faced over the years.

Time after time the ball was launched into the Chessy box, a mixture of missed attempts, good goalkeeping from HEWITT or everyone missing the ball kept the score at 0-0.

The Staines No 9 had four glorious chances to break the deadlock, the easiest one when he broke clear from a wind assisted through ball, with only HEWITT to beat he volleyed high over the bar.

After about 30 minutes we managed to get a foothold in the game, EDDIE DINES and LEWIS SKIPP started winning first & second balls in the middle of the park which allowed the impressive MYLES HENRY and KIEMON ROBINSON to get on the ball and face the full backs one on one.

JOE CHARLES making his first start of the season had a great chance to open the scoring when he made a good run and was found by HENRY, CHARLES had a touch and shot straight at the Staines keeper from only 8 yards out.

HENRY was getting lots of joy down our right hand side, always backed up by stand in skipper J FLACK.

It was HENRY who opened the scoring with his first goal for the club when he pounced on a defensive/goalkeeper mix up, HENRY rounded the keeper and fired the ball into the roof of the net!!

In injury time of the first half HENRY again beat the Staines No 3 and drove into the box, he squared it to SKIPP who's shot was blocked, the rebound fell to AARON JOHNSON at the back post but he was unable to double our lead.

HENRY again broke clear of the Staines left back, cut inside and got a shot away from a tight angle only to see his effort come back out against the upright.

We really didn't want the half to end now we were creating chances, only 10/15 minutes earlier we were counting down the minutes so we could get the lads in for a chat.

At half time the lads got a little bit of a telling off, 1-0 up yes, but everything was being done in 1st possibly 2nd gear. We had to step it up the 2nd half!

We attacked from the restart with the wind in our sails it was more a case of "when" we score again rather than "if"

Credit to Staines who got bodies back quickly to defend against our attacks, bodies on the line from corners and crosses, and a general busyness all over the pitch.

A couple of lapses in concentration from us allowed Staines to attack our goal a few times but HEWITT was never really troubled.

CHARLES sliced a volley high and wide when unopposed 20yards out.

ROBINSON and MYLES running the Staines full backs ragged now and getting lots of ball into the box but we failed to get on the end of any of them.

The Staines keeper pulled off a brilliant save down to his right from a decent ROBINSON drive.

RUDOLPH TEWE replaced CHARLES with just under 20 minutes to go.

SKIPP saw his close range drive blocked on the line from a corner, ROBINSON hit the post again from the rebound.

ANDREW JONES up from the back at a corner saw his effort go straight into the keepers hands.

JAMIE ELLIS replaced AARON JOHNSON for his first game of the season.

Staines levelled the game when substitute John Nunn finished first time from a cross, not bad for his debut and the fact he had been on the pitch for 1 minute!

A few more half chances went begging for Chessy in the dying minutes.

Our second away game in a row finished 1-1, the lads were disappointed after and felt like it was another 2 points dropped.
