We struggled to get a side out for this Bank Holiday game.

With some players having to work and some just not turning up we struggled to get a side out today, but we should have still beaten Croydon if we had taken our chances.

In the first half it was Croydon that started the stronger and as early as the 3rd min.they created the first chance when from a long throw the home forward should have least hit the target as he out jumped the Chessy defense.

A passage of play between Luke Edwards and Kris Adewale opened up the Croydon defense but the final ball was not good enough to trouble the home defense and from the next attack a Croydon forward should have done better but hit his shot straight at Bowery in the Chessy goal.

It has to be said that Bowery seemed a bit shakey in the Chessy goal and on more then one occasion he didnt come for a ball when the defense was waiting for him to,and on the occasions he did he finished second to the ball. From a long kick by the home Keeper Bowery was very very lucky when he came out of his area for the ball but was outjumped by the home team centre forward who saw his effort roll just wide.

Chessy next real chance came in the 32nd min.when following some good work by Dan Harding he laid the ball into Young Jamie Ellis who fired his shot straight at the keeper.

Now it was the turn of Croydon and in the 36th min. Bowery done well to regain the ball at the feet of an on rushing forward after he failed to hold the first shot, but on the stroke of half time he had a rush of blood and came flying out of his goal and again failed to get to the ball again and he had to thank his defenders a big thank you for clearing the ball away.

Half Time. 0-0.

Early in the second half Croydon tried to push forward and we started to hit them on the counter attack and from one of these breaks Dan Harding left six defenders in his wake but then with only the keeper to beat he fired wide and from the resulting goalkick Croydon pushed forward and a silly foul given away by Vic Martin.just central of the goal was driven low into the bottom corner,to my mind our keeper should never get beaten from there if he has lined his wall up propley. 1-0 to Croydon.

We now created a few chances with young Jamie Ellis being played in on a one on one with the home teams keeper but again he could not beat him.
Jimmy Harding had a good shot well blocked by the home defense.

Again our next chance fell to Jamie Ellis when Kris Adewale cross found him in space but this time he fired over.Following a good run and cross by Jimmy Harding Frankie Green headed just wide and just a couple of minutes later the same player headed over after a great run and cross from Kris Adewale.

The last chance of the game went to Croydon and he should have done better then to shot the wrong side of the poat.

I have said before you only get out of this game what you put in and to be honest our second half display was not worth a point why didnt we play like we did in the first half ?
We are now letting ourselves be dragged into the bottom of the table with other teams around us picking up points over there last two games our fate is still in our own hands so players lets see if the club means as much to you as it does to the Management team.

P.S. I would like to thank the players who never turned up today.
