Epsom go top of League.

On a very very heavy pitch both sides played there part in an exciting game to watch,but not if your one of the Managers.

The game started with Epsom knocking the ball about and trying to play there normal passing game and Chessy playing a long ball game,with the early part of the game being pretty even but just when Chessy thought they had done well a long range cross caught out the Chessy keeper Dan Burnett and he misjudged the swerve on the ball with the result of the ball hitting the bar and before he could recover ex-Chessy player R.Burns was the first to react and we found ourselves 1-0 down.

To the credit of both set of players the game went from end to end with the Epsom keeper having to pull off a couple of good saves from the hard working Dan Harding,but we should have scored when from a corner we missed a header from 2 yards.

In fairness to Epsom they kept to there passing game and but was it not for there bad finishing and some good blocking (Luke Edwards a great example) would have gone in at half time with different score line rather than the 1-0.

The second half started a lot better for Chessy with a change of formation and the home players starting to believe in themselves and after some more great work by Dan Harding the home team were awarded a penalty when the only way to stop his run was to bring him down in the box,and up stepped Tony Houghton but it was not to be our night as ha fired it just wide.

The game was it seemed going Epsoms way and it was not long before we found ourselves 2-0 down when from one of our attacks Epsom broke and with our players still trying to get back M.Jarman found himself alone in our box to give Dan Burnett no chance as he fired the ball into the net.

But for a good save down by the post by Burnett we would have found ourselves 3-0 down but it did not take long in coming when again our keeper failed to react to a long range cross and again R.Burns showed why he still one of the best finishers in the league.

Instead of feeling sorry for themselves the Chessy players reacted in the right way and but for a good couple of saves by White in the Epsom goal we could have had a couple of goals but with 4 mins to go we got a freekick just wide of the 18 yard box and about 25 yards out so we loaded there box and to everyones surprise Tom Tyler fired in a low shot that went straight into the net 1-3.

As far as the Epsom team were concerned the game was over but the Chessy players had other ideas and with just 2 mins left we were awarded anther penalty when Luke Edwards who was having a good great second half was brought down in the box and this time Dan Harding stepped up and made no mistake 2-3.

Epsom must have thought game over now,but the Chessy players wanted more and from a great cross after some good interplay between Luke Edwards and Owen Davis was headed in by former Epsom player Paul Gough,but our joy was short lived as the linesmen flag went up for offside.
