So in the end the spoils were shared and we drew our first game at the twentieth time of asking

The quirkiness of the league schedule saw us fulfil our league encounters with Bedfont for the year by the first week of November.

Other than that, the game was instantly forgettable with neither side serving up any real quality. In fact it would be difficult to say who the happier manager would be at the point gained, as both sides could with some justification claim the moral high ground but both would surely reluctantly accept they could have been beaten.

As usual our opponents started the quicker and again, certainly in the opening exchanges, the pick of our players were Gary Puckett and Lloyd Welsh who both performed in an assured manner. Bedfont despite having a greater share of possession rarely threatened and when they did their efforts were either wide of the mark or dealt with at ease by Mark Daniels. We did muster one effort of our own when a forceful run by Andrew Heath culminated in a fine pass to Daryl Swaby, whose effort hit the target and was well saved. He I’m sure would nonetheless have expected to do better. Other than that moment of expectation, our own attacking threat came mainly from well delivered free kicks and corners from Matt Holley, but even then we lacked a desire to score, or so it appeared.

The second half was slightly better and with nothing new to deal with from Bedfont, we gradually became the more likely to score.

A series of chances came our way in the last twenty minutes, two for Reece Jackson who firstly beat the goalkeeper to the ball only to see his lobbed effort go wide and secondly drove wide following good wing play from Daryl Swaby. The best chance or at least the best move of the match resulted in Dean Pitcher shaving the outside of the post with a well struck effort low to the keepers left.

So in the end the spoils were shared and we drew our first game at the twentieth time of asking.
