Who for the best part served up a rather drab affair.
To be fair the conditions played a part, with a driving wind making it difficult to defend against and maybe that contributed to the poor opening. Our attempted clearances were often intercepted too easily allowing Ash to put us under pressure with their direct approach and pacy forwards.
The best opportunity did indeed fall to our visitors who following a corner somehow contrived to miss during a goalmouth scramble that saw them hit the bar twice. In addition we needed to rely on Mark Daniels at least three times to save from well directed free kicks and shots made more difficult by the surface. Our one chance from open play fell to Reece Jackson who was unable to convert but such was the lack of a cutting edge we actually posed more of a threat from free kicks delivered from our own half.
The second half was better and we at last threatened our visitors goal with a degree of regularity . The first chance fell to Reece Jackson who capitalised on the defenders decision to let the ball bounce to run clear only to hit a rather lame effort that was easily saved. Shortly after it was a chance for Daniel Bennett who elected to try to round the keeper when a shot would have been the better choice. With the game now almost entirely in our attacking third we came closest to scoring when Andrew Heath saw his shot from the edge of the box rebound off the post.
To our credit we kept pressing and a fine save denied Daniel Bennett with about a quarter of an hour to go. That unfortunately was our last real chance as the anxiety in our play gradually affected the quality of our final ball.
At the final whistle we had stretched our unbeaten run to seven but with six of them drawn.
